Pres. Jonathan Arrives in Jerusalem for Pilgrimage – PHOTOS

President Goodluck Jonathan arrived in Jerusalem on Saturday for a two-day pilgrimage to Israel.

According to the president’s itinerary, he will observe the Sabbath Day on Saturday at the Wailing Wall, where he will pray privately before going to Mount Tabor and Mount Carmel.

Jonathan will also visit some other Christian holy sites during the pilgrimage.

During the pilgrimage, he will pray for Nigeria at an Interdenominational Church Service with the theme: “A day with Jesus for Nigeria in Israel’’.

The progamme of events indicates that other Nigerian Pilgrims will join the president during the service to pray for the well being and progress of the country.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Jonathan is performing pilgrimage for the second time during his first tenure.

Nigeria’s Ambassador to Israel Davi Obasa received the president on arrival at the David Ben Gurion International Airport, Tel Aviv.

Others that were at the airport included Willie Obiano of Anambra, John-Kennedy Opara, Executive Secretary, Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission and Jones Arogbofa, the Chief of Staff.

The president is accompanied to the pilgrimage by Obioma Onwuzurumba, Chaplain of the Presidential Villa, Bishop David Oyedepo of Living Faith Church Worldwide and Sen. Smart Adeyemi, Chairman, Senate Committee on FCT.

Members of the Federal Government delegation in the pilgrimage include the Nicholas Okoh, Primate Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) and Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, President, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

Olajumoke Akinjide, Minister of State for FCT, Chinedu Neboh, Minister of Power, Sarah Ochekpe, Minister of Water Resources, . Philip Aduda and Ndudi Elumelu, are also part of the delegation.

Other delegates are Gabriel Suswam of Benue and Jonah Jang of Plateau.

Ayo Fayose prostrates to Ekiti Teachers saying "E Se gan" - hmmmm this guy sha

Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, surprisingly prostrated to teachers and sought their cooperation in governing the state.

Fayose, who expressed his appreciation to the teachers for voting massively for him, also thanked them for staying with him during his eight years in the “political wilderness”.

The governor spoke at Adetiloye Hall, Ado Ekiti, while meeting with principals of secondary schools.

 He applauded the teachers for their unwavering loyalty to him, describing their support as the magic that brought him back to government.
To the admiration of the teachers, the governor prostrated and rolled on the floor before them. He also wept, being overwhelmed by the love they had displayed towards him.
The governor promised that their two months salaries and other benefits owed by the administration of immediate past governor, Kayode Fayemi, would soon be paid. He also promised other benefits that would motivate them.

He said: “I knew how I was able to partner with you to bring Ekiti from 35th to sixth position. I will still do the same now. Before any payment to political appointees, you will be the first to be considered. During my first term, I met a deplorable education sector, but with your support, I overcame.

“But it was so bad and disheartening that rather than for ex-governor Fayemi to face human capital development, he believed in building a N3.3bn lodge for his own comfort at the expense of you workers. Do you know that some courses needed just N800m to get accredited at the Ekiti State University? Fayemi’s government refused to make the funds available and the National Universities Commission (NUC) nearly de-accredited them. All he was pursuing was his self comfort.”

If you elect me: My Salary will be N1 per Annum says Atiku Abubakar

Former vice president of Nigeria and current presidential aspirant under the APC platform, Atiku Abubakar, may be setting the pace as he says he plans for his presidential salary to be N1 per annum if he is elected president in the elections in February 2015.

This was discovered on Saturday ahead of the Policy Retreat Review at the Obasanjo Presidential Lirary in Abeokuta, Ogun State, which will begin on Monday.

The retreat is part of Atiku's strategies for election. It will be recalled that Atiku on September 24 declared his intention to seek the APC ticket in December.

The Nigerian president currently earns a basic salary of N3.5 million annually while the vice president takes N3.03 million.

However, the president is entitled to other benefits/allowances. These are regular allowances such as hardship allowance of N1.7 million; Constituency allowance, N8.7 million; leave allowance of N351,470.50: severance gratuity N10.5 million; and motor vehicle loan N14.1 million.

Pay tax for what? Bishop Oyedepo reacts to being named richest pastor in the world

Winners Chapel GO Bishop David Oyedepo who recently turned 60, has reacted to the Forbes List of World's Richest pastors where he was placed at No.1 with an estimated worth of about $150million.

Asked about Forbes' estimate of his fortune, Bishop Oyedepo told Reuters that he doesn't know how Forbes arrived at their figure but says he's blessed...

"For me, to have fortune means someone who has what he needs at any point in time. I don't see myself as having $150 million stacked up somewhere. Whatever way they found their figures, I am only able to say I am blessed by the Lord."

Asked if churches should pay tax considering how much they make, Bishop Oyedepo said;

"There is no single government input on this premises. We supply our water, we make our roads, then you ... say: 'Let's tax them'. For what?"

Helen Paul, Nigerian media personality also known as Tatafo, has opened a films school called Helen Paul Theatre and Films Academy.

The Films Academy is described as a multi-million naira project and according to Helen Paul, the opening of the academy is a dream come true, having nurtured the ambition from childhood. Bride-to-be gets Pregnant after having Sex with Dwarf Stripper on Bachelorette Party Night

A Spanish bride-to-be got a little too wild on the night of her bachelorette party.
She had sex with one of the male strippers, who was a dwarf and had come to entertain guests, and subsequently became pregnant Daily Mail reports.
Sources say she kept the incident a secret even after the wedding. However, the truth was revealed after she gave birth to her baby earlier this year, and discovered the child was a dwarf.

“Neither her closest female friends nor her family knew she had had sex with the dwarf stripper.

But once she had her son in her arms, she broke down and confessed what had happened. As you can imagine no-one that sleeps with a stripper at her hen night broadcasts it, or at least they try to take their secret to the grave,” said a source.

Buhari Formally Declares Intention to Contest in 2015 Presidential Election

Former head of state, Muhammadu Buhari, has officially declared his intention to run for president in the 2015 elections.

He will be contesting on All Progressives Congress (APC) platform, according to Sahara Reporters.

Buhari made the announcement today at Eagle Square, Abuja.

During his speech, he stated that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was responsible for the poor shape of the nation. He promised to make the country better if elected.

Here are some excerpts from his speech:

“The interference in the wish of the people, which PDP has practised since 2003, is the worst form of injustice: denying people their right to appraise their candidate. Whether they like it or not, injustice cannot endure.

Since 1999, PDP has presided over our country’s decline. Nigeria, in my experience, has never been so divided, so polarised by an unthinking government, hellbent on ruling and stealing. We in the APC are resolved to stop them in their tracks and rescue Nigeria from the stranglehold of PDP…

I want to pay tribute to Nigerians who are enduring all sorts of hardship and degradations on a daily basis.

Many are grappling with extreme poverty and barely eking out a living. Nearly all are in living in the fear of their lives, also of their friends and family, due to insurgency by the godless movement called Boko Haram.

Ladies and gentlemen, it is everyone’s duty to resolve and help overcome these immense challenges. I will like to appreciate members of our armed forces under the new leadership. I will also like to commend the police for their efforts in confronting these challenges…”

The event was attended by Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi; Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole; Lagos State governor, Babatunde Fashola; Governor of Nasarawa State, TankoAl-Makura; and some former governors and APC members.
