My Oga At The Top”- The Shameful Aftermath
The Lagos state commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corp(NSCDC)
who made quite a blunder on national television, Obafaiye Shem, has
been temporarily suspended as a result of the entire “My Oga At The Top”
ruckus.
According to Vanguard, he was suspended after pressure emerged from the supervising ministry over his conduct at the interview in Lagos.
In the viral video making the rounds on numerous social networks, Obafaiye was interviewed by reporters on the Channels Television breakfast programme – Sunrise Daily and he could not mention the name of his organisation’s website. He was initially unwilling to divulge the information claiming that his “Oga At The Top” might reveal another version of it.He appeared to simply be covering up his ignorance of his organization’s website by saying that it would be revealed by his Oga at the top.
The hilarious video has sparked a T-shirt campaign and a music video. The original video has also been remixed and a game called “My Oga At The Top” has been created byKuluya.com.
Sources reveal that Shem’s wife forcefully entered Channels TV studio recently to protest bitterly to the chairman of Channels, what the shameful video has done to her family. According to Brimtime.com, she said that her kids were being ridiculed at school by their peers and that neighbours and fellow market women taunt her constantly. She also added that her husband hardly sleeps at night again because of the terrible embarrassment and constant harrassment he receives as a result of the video.
Since the video went viral, “My Oga At The Top” has been a feature of almost every joke in the country. On BBM, Twitter, Facebook, Blogs, Radio and TV, people can’t seem to get enough of this joke.
The advent of this embarrassing video has left the Shem family at the bitter receiving end.
Fellow Nigerians, isn’t it time we give this joke a rest since it is having an adverse effect on the family of the man concerned?
