Asari Condemns Ex-president of Nigeria.
Alhaji Mujahid Asari Dokubo, the Popular leader of Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force (NDPVF), on Thursday January 2nd 2014, he dropped a stinker on former President Olusegun Obasanjo calling him “the Chief Assassin of all times.” This is a letter he wrote in response to the 8 page letter Obasanjo had initially written Jonathan.
In the letter Asari rebutted Obasanjo’s claim that Jonathan was training a special killer squad to hit 1000 supposed opponents of his government. He also asserted that Obasanjo was responsible for his arrest in Benin and that he had the Intentions of killing him while he was in governance, but wasn't successful.
It will be recalled that Asari had threatened that Nigeria would be in Disarray if Jonathan does not
become president in 2015.

Information officers approved for Nigeria’s foreign missions
President Goodluck Jonathan has approved
the posting of information officers to Nigerian foreign missions in a
bid to improve the nation’s image abroad.
Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran
Maku, who said this while speaking to staff of the ministry in Abuja on
Monday, said the ministry, was reactivating its foreign offices to
adequately project the image of Nigeria in the global community.
Maku said the ministry had received
presidential approval to start the posting of foreign information
officers, adding that this would start as soon as some of the logistic
challenges were addressed.
He said, “We need information officers
in all the key embassies abroad. The question of promoting Nigeria’s
image will be their daily task.
“They will respond to stories that are
negative about Nigeria in those countries. They will write positive
stories; they will post whatever we are doing in the nation.
‘They will coordinate and expose us in those countries.
“They will campaign about the opportunities for investment; they will reply anything about Nigeria and set the record right.”
The minister said the foreign posting was not a luxury but crucial to the image of the country.
He added that Federal Information
Offices across the country have been revamped through the allocation of
resources to enable them to carry out some publicity activities on the
programmes and projects of the government.
Maku also told the workers that a total of N100m was expended on staff training in 2012.
He explained that unlike in the past
when staff training was outsourced to consultants; under his leadership,
funds for staff training were channelled to the National Institute of Public Information which was statutorily established to train staff of the ministry.
According to him, the ministry was now giving priority to staff training and development to achieve optimal performance in service delivery.
He urged Resident Information Officers
posted to Ministries, Departments and Agencies to step up regular filing
of reports to saturate the social media with the activities and programmes of the government
Nigerian Army retires 10 generals
The authorities of the Nigerian Army have retired some top generals of the Army.
It was gathered that those retired were ten in number.
Among those affected were the former
Director of Training and Operations, Defence Headquarters, Maj.-Gen.
Lawrence Ngugbane, the former Commander of Training, Doctrine and
Command, Maj.-Gen. Babagana Mungonu, and the former Chief of Research
and Development, Maj.-Gen. Obinali Ariahu.
A top military source said on Wednesday that the generals were retired because they had put in the maximum years in service.
The source said that the retirement exercise was routine and not punitive.
The source added that the retirement exercise was expected to take place every quarter of the year.
The source couldn’t give the names of the others affected in the exercise.
“It is true that some of our generals
have been retired. The exercise is a routine one. It is not a punitive
retirement, they have reached their terminal level.
“Some of them were asked to proceed on the compulsory terminal leave in June this year,” the source said.

Director of Defence Information, Brig.- Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, for
comments as the calls placed to his mobile telephone line indicated that
it was switched off or in an area outside network coverage

How smugglers killed Customs officer at Seme border
Tragedy struck last week when dare-devil smugglers killed a Customs officer whose identity is yet to be ascertained at the Seme border Command of the Nigeria Custom Service.Vanguard gathered that trouble started when the smugglers protested the high extortion fee being demanded by the Customs officers for the passage of their goods..
It was further gathered that the Smugglers also accused the officers of arresting their colleagues after exhorting money from them.
It was said that a similar scenario played out earlier at the Seme Command which led to a face-off between the smugglers and the officer which resulted in the death of the officer.
Confirming the development, Public Relations officer of the Command, Mr Ernest Olotta, told Vanguard that there was a protest by some youths in the Gbagi area of Seme over the death of one their colleagues suspected to be a smuggler.
Olotta told Vanguard that the deceased suspect was coming from across the border carrying poultry products. On sighting a team of anti-smuggling officers around Gbagi, he drove into the bush, which necessitated a chase by the officers.
The Command spokes man explained that it was in the course of the chase, that the suspected smuggler ran into some objects that led to his death.
He stated that both the products and the vehicle have been taken to the Seme border for further investigation.
An eye witness present at the scene of the event told Vanguard that in the course of the pursuit by Customs, the smuggler’s vehicle somersaulted and killed two of the smugglers on the spot.
The death of the smugglers, however, led to an attack on the officers by youths of the area.
